About the race
The Impala Stampede is an annual community road event presented by the Impala Racing Team with JAMBAR as title sponsor. The 2026 edition is the eighth annual running and takes place in Golden Gate Park, with post-race activities near the Conservatory of Flowers in Peacock Meadow and routes that pass Blue Heron Lake.
Race offerings include:
- 5K
- Kids’ Mile (ages 12 and under)
- Kids’ 400m Dash (ages 8 and under)
The 5K is a USATF certified course (CA18002TK) and the event is part of the Pacific Association USA Track & Field Road Short Course Grand Prix Series. The race fields include elite competitors and age-group divisions; $2,900 in total prize money is available to Pacific Association members and PAUSATF membership is required for prize payouts. All 5K participants receive commemorative socks; children in the Kids’ Mile and 400m receive finisher medals and candy. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities and runs rain or shine.
Logistics include packet pick-up at a local running store in the days before the event and on-site bib pick-up on race day. An informal bag check will operate in Peacock Meadow; participants must supply their own bag. Entry fees are non-refundable unless registration protection is purchased; transfers incur a fee. Strollers must start at the back to avoid impeding others. The organizers donate a portion of proceeds to the Imagining More Foundation to support youth sports opportunities.
