Event Overview
The Illinois State University Homecoming Town and Gown 5K takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The event offers an in-person 5K and a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk that is untimed. Virtual options include a 5K - Virtual and a 5K - Virtual WITHOUT t-shirt.
Event Details
All registration is conducted online. The in-person events start at the Student Fitness Center. The course goes through Uptown Normal and around the university campus.
One water stop is provided on the course. Refreshments are available for all participants after the event, courtesy of the Town of Normal.
The event aims to be zero-waste, with the Office of Sustainability providing reusable water bottles and a Zero Waste Crew on site. Pets are not allowed, but strollers are welcome. Parking is available in the School Street Parking Garage off of Beaufort.
Prizes are awarded to the overall male, female, and non-binary winners, as well as to overall male and female wheelchair racers. Additional awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in multiple age divisions.
The registration cost is $20 for all ages and races. $5 from each registration supports the Marian H. Dean Scholarship. Online registration closes at 7:45 a.m. on race day. To guarantee a shirt, participants must register by midnight on September 16.
Packet pick-up is available the day before the race at the Alumni Center or on race day at the Student Fitness Center. Virtual runners will receive a bib and instructions by email, and shirts will be mailed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
