About the race
The Illinois State University Homecoming Town and Gown event offers in person and virtual running options as part of homecoming activities in Normal, Illinois. The in person races start at the Student Fitness Center (347 S University St) and follow a course through Uptown Normal and around campus. One water stop will be provided on course and refreshments will be available afterward courtesy of the Town of Normal.
The event includes these options:
- 5K (3.1 Miles) in person
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk (Untimed) in person
- 5K Virtual
- 5K Virtual WITHOUT t shirt
All registration is online. The registration fee for most entries is $20 and five dollars of each registration will support the Marian H. Dean Scholarship. To guarantee a shirt, registration must be completed by midnight on September 22. Online registration is available until shortly before race day and packet pick up is available the day before in the Kasten Room at the Alumni Center or on race day at the Student Fitness Center.
The Office of Sustainability will provide reusable water bottles and a Zero Waste Crew to support a zero waste event. Pets are not allowed; strollers are welcome. Parking is available in the School Street Parking Garage off Beaufort. Awards include overall winners by gender and wheelchair division, an overall non binary prize, and top three awards by age divisions.
