Event overview
The Illinois State University Homecoming Town and Gown 5K takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Normal, Illinois. The event is a hybrid format with both in-person and virtual options. In-person participants start at the Student Fitness Center and follow a course that goes through Uptown Normal and around campus. One water stop is provided on the course and refreshments are available afterward.

Registration is primarily online. Most in-person and virtual entries are listed at $20; the 5K virtual without t-shirt option is free. Five dollars from each registration supports the Marian H. Dean Scholarship. To guarantee a shirt, registration must be completed by midnight on September 16. Virtual participants receive a confirmation email with a printable bib, submission link for race time, and mailed shirts.
Logistics and awards
Packet pick-up is available the day before in the Kasten Room at the Alumni Center and on race day at the Student Fitness Center. The Office of Sustainability will provide reusable water bottles and a Zero Waste Crew. No pets are allowed; strollers are welcomed. Parking is available in the School Street Parking Garage off of Beaufort.
Awards include overall male and female winners, overall male and female wheelchair winners, overall non-binary winner, and top three male and female finishers in age divisions: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.
