Race the Dead, Towanda IL
Race the Dead is an evening themed fun run hosted from Kicks Bar and Grill in Towanda. The course is a flat 5K out and back along old Route 66 and passes the historic Towanda cemetery. Luminaries line the course to define the route, and there will be an illuminated clock at the finish, but the run is not officially timed.
Participants may wear costumes; prizes are possible for costume winners. A single water stop is located about 0.4 miles from the start and can be used twice; it offers water and seasonal treats and refreshments. Runners are advised to bring a flashlight, especially if they expect to be slower on the course.
Entry options include a registration with a long sleeve technical shirt that features a seasonal image and a lower cost option without a shirt. Shirt registration is available only through October 17. Online registration for the no shirt option remains open through October 30. Fees reflect a member discount of two dollars for LRC members. Entry includes a coupon for a soft drink or beer redeemable at Kicks Bar and Grill.
