Ilkley Skyline

The Ilkley Skyline is a fell running event that takes place on the moors surrounding Ilkley. Established in 2013, the route covers a variety of terrain including fell, fields, and some short road sections. The race starts and finishes at the Hermit Inn in Burley Woodhead. The following distances are available:

  • 35 km (22 miles) with 910 meters (3000 feet) of elevation gain
  • 22 km Half Ilkley Skyline

The 35 km course is a loop that includes Beamsley Beacon, Round Hill, and the summits across Burley Moor, Ilkley Moor, and Rombalds Moor. In total, the route passes through at least eight different moors. The longest road section occurs during the climb from the river stepping stones in Burley back toward the finish.

Participants must navigate the course themselves as the route is unmarked. Runners are required to use a route map or a GPX file. The event includes several checkpoints and two aid stations located at Addingham (14 km) and Timble (25 km).

Parking is provided at the Scalebor Car Park (LS29 7SQ), and participants are informed that there is no event parking at the Hermit Inn. Registration, the start, and the finish line are located outside the Hermit Inn. The event takes place on fully accessible land. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
