Event Format
The event features two formats: a Last Man Standing race and a 3 Loop Challenge. In the Last Man Standing format, runners must complete a 4.167-mile loop every hour, starting sharply at 8 AM. A bell rings each hour to signal the start of the next loop. Runners must be in the starting corral at that time or they receive a DNF. The race continues until only one runner remains to start a loop; that runner must then complete one more loop alone to win.
The 3 Loop Challenge is a fixed-distance option. Participants run three of the same loops, with the fastest overall male and female times winning. Completing three loops can count as one race toward an Idaho Trail Series jacket. Participants may choose to run only two loops, but three are required for the series qualification.
Event Details
Packet pickup is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday before the race at the Idaho Running Company in Boise. Same-day registration is available. Each runner is allowed two crew members at the start/finish area. A minimal aid station at the start/finish provides water, Tailwind, coffee, and broth. Runners are encouraged to bring their own specific nutrition.
The Last Man Standing race is part of the Idaho Trail Ultra Series (ITUS). Completing at least 50K in this format counts as one of the four races needed for an ITUS year-end jacket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
