If You're Not First You're Last
This event in Eagle, Idaho, uses a repeated-loop format on a measured 4.167 mile course at 165 Eagle Island Parkway. Runners must complete each loop within one hour; a bell signals the start of each hour and participants must be present in the starting corral when the bell sounds or receive a DNF. The event continues hour by hour until only one runner completes one more loop than every other competitor; if no runner can complete an extra loop, there is no winner. Results record each runner's total distance covered. There are no age-group awards and no overall placings beyond the final winner.
A separate 3 Loop Challenge is offered. Overall fastest times determine one male and one female winner for that category. Completing three loops qualifies as one race toward the Idaho Trail Series (ITS) jacket; a 50K distance completed in the Last Man Standing format also counts as one of the four required ITS races, but only the 50K distance earns ITS points.
Additional details: packet pickup occurs at the Idaho Running Company in Boise on 9/9 and 9/10 with specified times; registration closes on Tue, Sep 8 at 11:59 PM MT. Same-day registration is available. No refunds. Each runner may have two crew members at start/finish; a minimal aid station will be available at start/finish.
