Celebrate the Season in Boise
The YMCA Christmas Run is a holiday-themed athletic event held at Boise High School. This Treasure Valley tradition invites participants to run or walk through the winter landscape in a festive environment. The event features several participation options for different ages and interest levels:
- 1 Mile Reindeer Dash (Youth and Adult divisions)
- 2 Mile Run/Walk (Youth and Adult divisions)
- 6 Mile Run/Walk (Youth and Adult divisions)
The festivities include an appearance by Santa, who starts the race. Participants are encouraged to wear holiday costumes, with prizes awarded to winners in the costume contest. Following the completion of the courses, participants can gather in the Boise High School Cafeteria for an awards ceremony where results for overall and division winners are announced.
Post-race refreshments include bagels provided by Blue Sky Bagels, and a photo booth is available for participants. Packet pick-up is held at the school cafeteria on the Friday preceding the race and on the morning of the event. The first 1,000 participants to collect their materials receive a pair of Christmas Run gloves. The event also supports a Financial Assistance program through the YMCA to provide community opportunities regardless of income. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
