Ice Breaker 8K Run/Walk
Ice Breaker 8K is a trail race held at Lakeside Park in Piedmont, South Carolina on January 30, 2027. Square One Events will host the race for the fifth time on the park's trail system, which uses the Every Minute Trail and the All Day, Baby Trail.
The course is single track with minimal roots and a few gradual inclines. Runners pass a central hub and aid station twice as they follow the undulations and switchbacks before returning on the All Day Trail to the finish. Aid stations are placed on the course at two separate mile markers.
Runners, walkers and hikers are welcome. Dogs may participate if kept on leash. Strollers are not recommended because of the terrain. Start and finish are located between the baseball diamonds and the football field on the park's east side. Parking is available in marked spaces around the baseball fields.
Registration opens August 1, 2026 and closes January 5, 2027. The registration fee is $30.00. The first 100 participants receive custom race socks. The event includes chip timing. All finishers receive a finisher medal. Awards include top three male and female overall and top three male and female in each age group. Age groups listed include 1-9; 10-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
