Ice Breaker 8K Run/Walk
The Ice Breaker is an 8K trail run and walk held on January 30, 2027 at Lakeside Park in Piedmont, SC. The route runs the Every Minute Trail and the All Day, Baby Trail and begins with a short lap around the baseball diamond sidewalk before entering the trailhead.
The course uses single track with minimal roots, a few gradual inclines, several undulations and switchbacks, and a central hub that participants pass twice. Two aid stations are placed on the course at separate mile markers. Water is provided on course and hot cocoa and post race refreshments are available at the finish. The event has a 90 minute time limit.
Packet pickup is located near the start and finish area by the bathrooms beyond the baseball fields between the baseball diamonds and the football field on the east side of the park. Parking is free at Lakeside Park, though the county requires a five dollar special use permit that is paid during registration.
Entries include chip timing with live results, a custom race bib, a finisher medal for all finishers, professional race photos, and event giveaways. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and to first through third in multiple age group categories. The race is part of the Upstate Giving Series and supports local nonprofits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
