Ice Breaker 8K : Lakeside Park, Piedmont SC
Ice Breaker is an 8K trail event hosted by Square One Events at Lakeside Park in Piedmont, South Carolina. The course uses the park's trail system, including the Every Minute Trail and the All Day, Baby Trail, and follows a rolling run/walk/hike route through wooded terrain with several switchbacks and undulations.
The route is composed mainly of single-track trails with minimal roots and a few gradual inclines. A central trail hub contains an aid station that participants pass twice; in total there are aid stations at two separate mile markers. Chip timing is used and all finishers receive a finisher medal. Overall awards are given to the top three male and female finishers, and top three awards are also given within age groups that range from 1-9 up to 70+.
Participants may include runners, walkers, hikers and leashed dogs. Strollers are not recommended because of the trail terrain. Start and finish are located between the baseball diamonds and the football field on the east side of Lakeside Park, and parking is available in the marked spaces around the baseball fields. Packet pickup is available one hour prior to the race near the starting line.
Registration opens September 1, 2026 and closes January 5, 2027. The registration fee is $30.00 and the first 100 participants receive custom race socks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
