Ice Breaker 8K Run/Walk
The Ice Breaker is an 8K trail run and walk held at Lakeside Park in Piedmont, SC. The course uses mainly single-track trails called Every Minute Trail and All Day, Baby Trail and begins with a short lap around the baseball diamond sidewalk before entering the trailhead. The route has minimal roots, a few gradual inclines, several undulations and switchbacks, and a central hub that participants pass twice.
On-course support includes two aid stations placed at separate mile markers with water, and post-race refreshments including hot cocoa at the finish. Wildly Charged provides hydration at the aid stations. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal; the event also offers chip timing with live results, a custom race bib, a custom race tattoo, event-themed giveaways, a race sticker, and complimentary professional photos typically available within 48–72 hours.
Awards include trophies for the top three overall male and female finishers and age group medals for the first three in each of 15 age categories. The race counts toward season recognition in the Upstate Trail Series. Parking is at Lakeside Park near the bathrooms beyond the baseball fields; the county requires a $5 special use permit paid during registration. Registration opens 2026-09-01 and closes 2027-01-05; the listed registration fee is $35.00. A 90 minute time limit applies. The event supports local nonprofits through the Upstate Giving Series.
