I RUN the RIVER with Active CB is a community running festival held on Saturday 24 October 2026 at Tasker Park on the Cooks River Path in Canterbury. The event offers multiple timed distances and uses a grass start and finish at Tasker Park. The major sponsor is Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club.
Distances

- 7 km
- 14 km (two laps of the 7 km circuit)
- 21.1 km (three laps of the 7 km circuit; entrants must be 16 years or older)
Courses follow the Cooks River cycleway and feature mostly smooth paved paths alongside riverside scenery. Each route is clearly marked and includes two short single-file gravel sections and multiple footbridge crossings. Safety information notes that participants should keep to the right-hand side of the path at all times. The 21.1 km distance has a completion requirement of under three hours to receive marshal support and a recorded result.
Race logistics include on-the-day bib collection with a timing chip worn on the front of clothing, a tear-off baggage tag and a gear drop-off area near check-in. All registrants receive an I RUN the RIVER boot bag and finishers receive a medal. The Run Hub at Tasker Park provides water, first aid, toilets and a range of stalls and services including event stalls, music, free massages, a barbecue and a professional photographer. Limited parking is available at the Canterbury Leisure and Aquatic Centre and on nearby streets. The event proceeds in rain unless the course is unsafe due to flooding.
