I Ran the D 5K

I Ran the D is an annual 5K held in downtown Detroit on May 22, 2027. The course starts and finishes at Comerica Park, passes through the historic streets of Brush Park, goes by Ford Field, and concludes with a lap inside Comerica Park around the outfield wall.

Registration for the 2027 race is sold out; organizers expect more than 7,500 participants in Brush Park on race day. The event is presented by the Detroit Sports Commission, which has hosted regional and national events since 2001, including the 2024 NFL Draft and the 2027 NCAA Men’s Final Four.

Proceeds support the Detroit Sports Commission’s Living Legacy Initiative, which invests in youth literacy, promotes active lifestyles for young people, and expands access and pathways for girls in sports. To date, the initiative has invested more than $1.7 million into local programs.

Race registration includes a custom hooded long-sleeve running shirt featuring all four Detroit professional sports teams, a custom bib, and a finisher’s medal. Virtual participants receive a T-shirt and medal, with race packets mailed the week before the event; shipping is included for virtual entries.
