Hyde Park Harriers Summer Mile
The Hyde Park Harriers Summer Mile is an evening event held at Woodhouse Moor in Leeds. The competition consists of a series of 1 mile races conducted on flat tarmac paths. Participants complete two laps of the course to reach the mile distance. The event is open to both club-affiliated runners and non-affiliated runners, provided they are 16 years of age or older on the day of the race.
The races are chip timed, and the event features a series of heats, concluding with a fast final race. The organizers permit a maximum entry limit of 450 participants. Registration takes place on-site prior to the events, but all entries must be made in advance as there is no registration available on the night of the race.
Finishers receive graded gold, silver, or bronze medals based on their performance. Various accolades are available, including a prize for a new event record, a perpetual trophy for the winning club (based on combined male and female times), and trophies for the best miler in each club, subject to entry numbers.
The site facilities are limited, as there are no toilets, changing rooms, showers, or baggage storage areas provided. Water is available for participants, and distance markers are placed along the route. For safety and regulatory reasons, runners are not permitted to use headphones, MP3 players, recording devices, or head cameras during the race. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs.
