Hutton Roof Crags Fell Race

This event is the 40th edition of a traditional fell race. The course covers approximately 7 miles (11.2 km) with 400 meters of ascent. The route includes Hutton Roof Crags and Farleton Knott.

The event follows Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules and is categorized as a 'B Medium' race. It emphasizes self-sufficiency and self-navigation; the use of GPS devices is prohibited. Only the start and end of the route are marked, so competitors must provide their own physical map and compass. There are three mandatory checkpoints, details of which are accessible on the event website and displayed at registration.

A race time limit of 2 hours and 15 minutes is applied, with appropriate checkpoint cut-offs. The race organizer may implement kit requirements on the day. There are separate junior races for age categories U10/U12, U14/U16, and U18/U20, with on-the-day entry.

Prizes are awarded for male and female open and veteran categories, supported by Pete Bland Sports. The overall winner receives the Darren Kay Trophy. A country fair, refreshments, and cakes are available at the newly refurbished village hall. Car parking is available on a field adjacent to the hall, with a requested donation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
