Hutton Roof Crags Fell Race - 23 May 2026
This is the 40th running of a traditional fell race over 6.74 miles (10.8 km) with approximately 412 metres of ascent. The route takes in Hutton Roof Crags and Farleton Knott, generally following established paths while only the beginning and end are marked.
Navigation and self-sufficiency are required; the use of GPS devices of any kind is strictly prohibited. The course includes three mandatory checkpoints and a race time limit of 2 hours 15 minutes, with appropriate checkpoint cut offs applied. The event is categorised as a B Medium race under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules and FRA kit requirements may be enforced on the day. Full details of runners' obligations are listed by the Fell Runners Association.
Scree on Farleton Knott is out of bounds because of erosion concerns noted by Natural England. Basic route indications and checkpoint locations are published by the organiser and will be displayed at registration, but these indications are not intended as a navigation aid for racing; competitors should carry their own physical map and compass.
Junior races and a country fair accompany the fell race. Junior categories for 2026 are U10/U12, U14/U16 and U18/U20, with on-the-day entry at £5 and a minimum age of 6 years. Cakes and refreshments will be sold in the Village Hall and proceeds support the hall. Car parking is on the field adjacent to the Village Hall and donations are requested. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
