Hutton Roof Crags Fell Race : 23 May 2026

The Hutton Roof Crags Fell Race is a fell-running event held in the Lake District, based at Hutton Roof Village Hall near Kirkby Lonsdale (LA6). The course is approximately 11 km (about 7 miles) with roughly 400 m of ascent. The race is categorised as B (Medium) under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules and carries an FRA permit and associated insurance.

Race details

The route takes in Hutton Roof Crags and Farleton Knott, mainly on established paths with only the start and finish marked. Navigation and self-sufficiency are required; the use of GPS devices is prohibited. There are three mandatory checkpoints on the course and a race time limit of 2 hours 15 minutes with appropriate checkpoint cut-offs. Organisers may make kit checks on the day in line with FRA requirements. The scree area on Farleton Knott is out of bounds.

Entry is by pre-entry only; entry fees are listed as £10 for FRA members and £11 for non-members. Teams of three are permitted and prizes are awarded across male and female open and veteran categories up to Vet 80. Junior races are also held, with categories U10/U12, U14/U16 and U18/U20, a minimum junior age of 6 on the day, and an on-day junior entry fee of £5.
