Huron River Run/Walk 5K
The Huron River Run/Walk 5K is a community running event in Huron that follows a course through the Old Plat and Oklahoma neighborhoods and starts and ends at the Huron River Pier at the corner of Main St. and Wall St. The advertised distance is 3.1 Miles. The event is scheduled during the weekend of Huron's River Festival and includes a kids' fun run later the same morning; the kids' run is race day registration only with a $1 fee and participants receive a keepsake bib.
There is one water station on the route at the 1.5 mile marker located at Huron High School. Online registration opens March 2 and closes July 2. Early bird online registration runs through June 26; entry fee for individuals at that rate is $20 and total team entry fee is $30, with a guaranteed race shirt for registrations by that date. After June 26, online registration and day-of registration are $25 per participant and $35 per team; a race shirt is not guaranteed for later registrants. Awards are given to the top 3 finishers in each listed age group (11 & under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-70, 70-75, 75 & OVER). Male and female overall finishers receive plaques, and medals are awarded to the top 3 participants in each 5 year age category.
