Running Laps with Lions
Running Laps with Lions is a timed athletic event held in Sandusky, Ohio, serving as a fundraiser for the Sandusky Lions Club. The competition takes place within Lions Park, a waterfront location situated on Sandusky Bay. This event coincides with the 101st anniversary celebration of the Ohio Lions and is included as a featured race in the 2026 #RUNDUSKY Race Series.
The event format focuses on completing as many laps as possible within a one-hour timeframe. Participants follow a loop course that measures approximately 0.5 miles in length. Runners and walkers can track their progress based on the number of completed loops:
- 7 laps (approximately 5 km)
- 13 laps (approximately 10 km)
In addition to the main one-hour event, there is a Lion Cub Lap designed for children, which occurs shortly before the primary race begins. All participants who complete their registration by April 24, 2026, are provided with a commemorative shirt. The event also includes race medals for participants. The course layout utilizes the scenic pathways of the municipal park, allowing for a repetitive loop format during the sixty-minute duration.
