Event Overview
The Huntsville Sprint Triathlon is a multi-sport event for individuals and relay teams, including a youth category for participants aged 18 or younger. The event features a sprint distance triathlon course.
Course Details
The race consists of a 400-meter swim in a pool, an 8-mile bike ride, and a 3-mile run. Organizers note that the bike and run lengths are approximate and can vary annually based on course adjustments. The bike course uses public roads, with most of a lane coned off for traffic; a short portion goes through a residential area without a coned lane. The run course combines cross-country terrain, gravel roads, and a greenway.
A key bike course update for this edition is the removal of a sharp U-turn on Triana Boulevard. Instead, the route continues south to loop around the Public Safety Training Academy parking lot before heading back north.
Participant Information
Athletes are seeded for the swim start based on their reported swim time, which can be adjusted closer to the race. A practice swim and race briefing are scheduled for the Sunday prior to the event at the Aquatics Center. Participants must wear a buckled helmet and proper footwear and attire to enter the bike course.
Registration closes on July 31, 2026, or when 450 cyclists are registered. Participants who register by July 18 are guaranteed their t-shirt size. Finishers receive a t-shirt, picked up on-site after the run. Race proceeds are donated to local charities.
Venue & Logistics
The event takes place at 2223 Drake Avenue Southwest in Huntsville, Alabama. Parking is at this address, not at the Aquatics Center. Packet pick-up is available on the Thursday and Friday before the race at specified local businesses, as well as on race day.
An athlete and spectator guide with rules and regulations will be emailed closer to the event. The transition area has specific rules for bike racking and timing chip handling for relay teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
