Huntsville Run Fest
Huntsville Run Fest is a one-day Saturday trail running event in Gurley, Alabama, centered at McMullen Cove and nearby Two Mountain Greenway. The festival offers multiple distances and follows mountain single-track and double-track trails through a largely shaded forest canopy.
Distances
- 5K Sublett Point Challenge on Two Mountain Greenway
- 25K Trail run on the Two Mountain Trail
- 50K Trail run completing the same loop twice
The 25K route includes roughly 2,500+ feet of climbing and the 50K about 5,000+ feet. The course contains steep climbs, technical sections, rugged descents, and faster runnable stretches. Runners pass several notable landmarks such as Indian Trees, Pancake Hollow waterfall, Blake’s Cabin, Sublett Point overlook, and Silo Hill.
Aid stations are placed at critical points and are never more than four miles apart. Named aid locations include Blake’s Cabin, Watson’s Overlook, Indian Tree/Tucker Intersection, Sublett Point, Silo Hill, and the Start/Finish area. The Sublett Point Challenge is an out-and-back that climbs to Sublett Point and includes a Ruck Division option this year.
Packet pick-up is scheduled at Fleet Feet Huntsville on Friday and at McMullen Cove on Saturday. Registration opens June 21 and closes September 1. Entry fees listed for the events are $70 for the 50K, $60 for the 25K, and $30 for the 5K. Proceeds support childhood cancer research. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
