First Solar HEROES 5k
The First Solar HEROES 5k is a community running event held at the US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville. The course runs around the Pathfinder Shuttle and the Saturn V Rocket and is a USATF certified road course (Course ID AL19035JE).

- 5k Run (3.1 mi)
- 5k Ruck
The 5k ruck is offered in two divisions with required dry weights: male ruck at 30 lbs and female ruck at 20 lbs. Participants must provide their own ruck; rucks will be weighed before the event to confirm the dry weight requirement.
All proceeds from the event are donated to Still Serving Veterans, a local non-profit military support organization. Registration remains open through 11/07/2026, and the deadline to guarantee a runners packet is 10/19/2026; after that date, registrants are guaranteed a timing bib while packets and shirts are subject to availability.
Parking is provided in the lot in front of The Davidson Center for Space Exploration. Volunteers receive an event T-shirt and breakfast on the morning of the event.
