First Solar HEROES 5k - Huntsville, AL
The First Solar HEROES 5k takes place on 11/07/2026 at 1 Tranquility Base in Huntsville, Alabama. The event includes multiple running and ruck events held at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center campus and uses a course that runs around the Pathfinder Shuttle and Saturn V Rocket.

The 5k course is a USATF certified road course, Course ID AL19035JE. Ruck divisions are set by weight: male ruck 30 lbs and female ruck 20 lbs. Participants must supply a ruck meeting the dry weight requirement; rucks will be weighed before the event begins.
Registration opens early 2026 and closes on 11/07/2026. The deadline to guarantee a runners packet is 10/23/2026; after that date registrants are guaranteed a race bib for chip timing but runner packets and t-shirts are available while supplies last. Fees listed for the events are $30.00 for the 5k run and 5k ruck, and $20.00 for the 1 mile fun run.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Still Serving Veterans, a local nonprofit military support organization. Parking is in the lot in front of The Davidson Center for Space Exploration.
