Huntertown Heritage Days 5K
The Huntertown Heritage Days 5K is an annual running event held as part of the community festival in Huntertown, Indiana. The race follows a 5K loop through the local area, starting and finishing in front of Huntertown Elementary School on Lima Road. This event takes place rain or shine during the broader festival weekend, which has been a local tradition since 1999.
The course is designed as a flat and fast loop on paved roads. From the starting line, participants travel north on Lima Road for approximately one mile before turning onto Shoaff Road. The route continues for over half a mile then turns onto Malcolm Road, which transitions into Hunter Road. After following Hunter Road to the three-mile mark, runners return to Lima Road for the final 200 meters to the finish line.
The event is timed by DRS Timing, LLC, and the course remains open for one hour. Participants who register by the mid-July deadline receive an event t-shirt. On the morning of the race, water and snacks are provided to participants. Parking is available on-site at the elementary school.
Awards are presented to the first overall male and female finishers. Additionally, medals are awarded to the top three finishers in various age divisions, ranging from 14 and under to 70 and older. A financial bonus is offered to any male or female winner who sets a new course record.
