Event Overview
The Hummingbird Run: Safe Driving Initiative is a family event promoting safe and responsible driving. It is held in memory of Elizabeth Giordano. The event is in its tenth year as of 2026 and is held during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. It takes place at the Crackerbarrel Fairgrounds on Emerald Street in Wrentham, Massachusetts. The course is on flat, suburban roads and is not USATF-certified. The event is held rain or shine.
Race Details
Participants can choose from three activities:
- 5K Walk
- 5K Run
- 10K Run
In-person registration and bib pick-up are available at the fairgrounds on the Saturday before and on the morning of the event. Online registration closes on the Friday before the race. Free parking is available on site.
Awards and Activities
Medals are awarded for the 5K and 10K runs by selected age groups and gender. For the first 200 registrants, free t-shirts and goodie bags are provided. Activities on the day include entertainment, a raffle, food, and speakers. Strollers and leashed pets are welcome.
Scholarship Initiative
The event is organized by the Elizabeth K Giordano Scholarship Fund. Several $1,000 scholarships are awarded from a drawing of all participating high school seniors, who must be present to win. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
