Humboldt Bay Marathon
The Humboldt Bay Marathon is a nonprofit affiliate of the Road Runners Club of America that promotes fitness, outdoor recreation and trails in Humboldt County. The event program for 2027 includes multiple race distances and community-focused services.
All races start and finish at Madaket Plaza, 1st and C Streets in Eureka. The route passes coastal and forested areas and features local landmarks such as the Samoa Bridge, the streets of Old Town Eureka, the winding road from Sunnybrae to Freshwater, and paths and hills in the Arcata Community Forest.
Race services include gun start and chip finish timing with at least one split for each distance, managed by a local timing partner. The event commissions custom artwork for medals and shirts from a local artist, with that artwork reflected in race merchandise. Results from prior years are published and archived.
Volunteer opportunities are available for adults and students; students receive a certificate acknowledging their volunteer hours. The event lists local sponsors and community partners who support the races and related activities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
