Humans of Steel: Harris Lake Sprint & Olympic Triathlon
The event takes place on August 2, 2026, at Harris Lake County Park in New Hill, NC (Shearon Harris Reservoir). The program includes reverse-order sprint and Olympic triathlons, aquabike sprint and Olympic distances, an Olympic relay, and a kids 50-yard dash.
The race uses a reverse format: participants run on single-track trails, then ride on road sections through Holly Springs, and finish with an open-water swim in Harris Lake. The event notes proximity to Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Fuquay Varina, and Holly Springs.
Distances by event:
- Reverse Olympic Triathlon: 10k trail run, ~20 mile road bike, 1500m open-water swim
- Reverse Sprint Triathlon: 5k trail run, 12.5 mile road bike, 750m open-water swim
- Aquabike Sprint: 12.5 mile road bike, 750m open-water swim
- Aquabike Olympic: ~20 mile road bike, 1500m open-water swim
- Kids 50yd Dash: 50 yd dash
The event is USAT sanctioned and notes high-school athlete participation and USAT ranking points. Organizers provide packet pick-up on race day only and include a trash bag for participants to carry out their own trash. Awards are given overall (Male, Female, Non-Binary) and in age divisions starting at 12-14, 15-17, 18-19, 20-24 and continuing in five-year brackets.
