HRCA Independence Day 5K
The HRCA Independence Day 5K takes place on July 4, 2026 in Littleton, Colorado, with the event address listed as 9352 Dorchester Street, Town Center South. The event is presented as a 5K run/walk that welcomes first-time participants, competitive runners, children, parents with strollers, and dogs.
The course begins and ends on Dorchester Street, proceeds north to Plaza Drive, loops back along Broadway, follows Highlands Ranch Parkway, and returns to Town Center South. The route has a total ascent of 130 ft and a maximum elevation of 5,704 ft. There is one aid station on course providing water at S Ridgeline Blvd and Plaza Drive.
All participants receive a race t-shirt, an Independence Day 5K pint glass, a custom race bib, a pancake breakfast from Flippin' Flapjacks, and post-race beer from Living the Dream Brewing. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each gender category; overall gender categories are Male, Female, and Non-Binary. Age groups are 7 and under, 8–12, 13–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 plus.
Additional details: packet pickup is available on race morning at the start, free parking is available in the Highlands Ranch town center parking garage or nearby, restrooms are located on the west side of the clock tower, medical services will be near the start and finish, and the event will proceed rain or shine. A red, white, and blue kettlebell will be hidden on the course and the person who returns it to the finish will receive $100. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
