About the race
The HOWL Trail event comprises three trail races that use the final sections of the Heart of Wales Line route. The Heart of Wales Line is a 141 mile walking and running trail running between Llanelli, Powys and Craven Arms, Shropshire.

All courses finish at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, School Road, Craven Arms, SY7 9RS. Parking is available at the Discovery Centre and a £5 charge applies to parked cars; the fee supports the Centre.
Registration locations are given for each distance: Lakeside Cafe, Princes Ave, Llandrindod Wells (50 miles); Knucklass Community Centre, Glyndwr (26 miles); and St Marys Primary School, Chapel Lawn Road, Bucknell (16 miles). Each distance offers a baggage drop at its registration point; baggage is transported to the finish line.
Checkpoint arrangements differ by course. The 50 mile course has two manned checkpoints at Llanbister Rd railway halt (about 15 miles) and Bucknell Primary School (about 19 miles), leaving a final 16 mile section to the finish. The 26 mile course has one manned checkpoint at Bucknell (about 8 miles) and the same final 16 mile section. The 16 mile course has no manned checkpoints between Bucknell and Craven Arms.
Entry fees are: HOWL50 £95, HOWL26 £75, HOWL16 £55. The event minimum age is 16 and the maximum age is 98; course age requirements vary by distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
