Callow
Callow is a winter fell race organised by Mercia Fell Runners and registered with the WFRA. It is an AS category event covering 8.1 km with 762 m of ascent. The route starts close to Little Stretton and includes four steep valley climbs before finishing on a fast descent.
Race headquarters and registration are at Little Stretton Village Hall. Entry is available by pre-entry via SI entries for £8 or as a limited number of on the day entries for £10. The event is part of the Winter Series and has a downloadable route map file.
Full WFRA kit is mandatory. Required items include waterproof top and trousers with taped seams, a hat or buff, gloves, compass, whistle, map, food and drink as needed, and something to carry the kit such as a bumbag or rucksack. GPS devices must not be used for navigation. There will be a cut off at Ashes Hollow one hour 15 minutes after passage off Yearlet; competitors outside this cut off will be asked to make their own way back and report to the finish via Ashes Hollow.
Marshalling will be limited, and previous fellrunning experience or mountain skills is recommended. Prizes are awarded for first, second and third men and women. Organisers request use of designated car parks and ask that competitors do not park near the church or in pub car parks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
