The Houtzdale Days Annual 5K Run/Walk and Fireman's Challenge takes place in Houtzdale, PA on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 601 Good Street. The event is held as part of the Houtzdale Days celebration and is organized by the Houtzdale Fire Company. Distances offered include:

Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Male and Female in each category. All registration proceeds go directly to the Houtzdale Fire Company.
Course, rules and registration
The event uses a revised course introduced in 2023 that measures about 3.3 miles, slightly longer than the standard 3.1 miles. The Fireman's Challenge follows the same course but requires participants to wear or carry turnout gear for the entire race - boots, hat, pants, and coat - without using a bag; insulation is not required. The first person to cross the finish line in the Fireman's Challenge wins $250 to donate to the Fire Company or an EMS organization of their choice. The Challenge may be modified or canceled for weather reasons at the Race Director's discretion.
Standard registration is $20. Shirts are guaranteed only for registrations received by 11:59 PM on July 11. Referral and multi-signup discounts are available, including a refund when six people register with a referral code and a reduced fee of $15 per person for group signups of ten or more.
