Event overview
The Houtzdale Days Annual 5K Run/Walk and Fireman's Challenge takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Houtzdale, PA (601 Good Street, 16651). The event includes two race options and raises money for the Houtzdale Fire Company. Standard registration is $20. Registration opens January 1, 2026. All proceeds go directly to the Houtzdale Fire Company.

Course, awards, and rules
The event uses a revised course that measures approximately 3.3 miles, slightly longer than the standard 5K distance. Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Male and Female in each category. Shirts are guaranteed only for registrations submitted by July 11.
The Fireman's Challenge follows the same course but requires participants to wear or carry turnout gear (boots, hat, pants, and coat). Gear may not be carried in a bag. Insulation in the gear is not required. The first finisher in the Fireman’s Challenge earns a $250.00 donation to the Fire Company or an EMS organization of their choice. The Fireman's Challenge may be modified or discontinued due to unfavorable weather; that decision is at the discretion of the Race Director.
There are two registration discount options: a referral refund when six people register using a participant’s referral code, and a multi-signup rate of $15 per person when registering ten or more people at once.
