Houtzdale Days Annual 5K Run/Walk and Fireman's Challenge
The event takes place on August 1, 2026 in Houtzdale, Pennsylvania at 601 Good Street. It uses a revised course that measures approximately 3.3 miles, slightly longer than a standard 5K.
Two event categories are listed:
- 5K Run and Walk - 3.3 miles
- 5K Fireman's Challenge - 3.3 miles
Registration fees are $25 for the run and walk and $20 for the Fireman's Challenge. Group registrations of 10 or more entered together receive a $5 reduction in the fee. Registration opens June 1 and closes July 31. Shirts are guaranteed only for registrations received by 11:59 PM on July 17.
Medals are awarded for first, second, and third place in male and female divisions for each category. The Fireman's Challenge follows the same course but requires participants to wear or carry turnout gear for the entire race without the use of a bag. Turnout gear includes boots, hat, pants, and coat; insulation is not required. The Fireman's Challenge winner receives a plaque and will designate a $250 donation to a fire or EMS service of their choice. The challenge may be modified or cancelled for unsafe weather at the discretion of the Race Director.
