Event Overview
The Hot Chocolate Run Columbus is a running event that takes place on November 15, 2026. The start and finish location is McFerson Commons in Columbus, Ohio. The event features three race distances: a 5K, a 10K, and a 15K. A pre-race expo for packet pickup is held on November 14, 2026, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
Course Details
The course starts in the Riverfront District and finishes near Nationwide Arena. Runners pass by landmarks such as the Rich Street Bridge over the Scioto River, Bicentennial Park, and the Union Station Arch. The route goes through downtown Columbus and nearby districts, including the River South District, Brewery District, and German Village.
Participant Experience
All registered participants receive a finisher's kit that includes an exclusive full-zip jacket and a commemorative medal. At the finish line, runners are given a finisher's mug filled with chocolate fondue, dippable snacks, and hot chocolate. A post-race party is held at McFerson Commons with music and vendors. Live runner tracking is available during the event, and free high-resolution race photos and official timing results are provided to participants after the race.
Additional Options
An upgraded experience called the Ghirardelli Cocoa Club is available for an extra fee. It includes perks like a VIP lounge area, a special shopping bag with take-home cocoa, an onsite store credit, preferred corral placement, a hot breakfast item, and dedicated restrooms. There is an option to have the race packet mailed to participants for a fee instead of picking it up at the expo.
Awards
Awards are given for overall top three male and female finishers in each distance, as well as for age group winners. Overall winners receive cash prizes and free registration for the following year.
