Event overview
The Cold Start Warm Finish Family Fun Run/Walk takes place on January 10, 2026 at NELHA Beach Park, Makako Bay Drive, Kailua Kona, HI. The event is open to the community and will be followed by a health and wellness expo. Registration opens on October 1, 2025 and will close when the event reaches a 250-athlete limit or on January 6, 2026. Packet pick up is available January 5 to January 9, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the NELHA Administration Office (73-987 Makako Bay Drive).

Course and race information
The course runs along Makako Bay Drive and trails fronting the Pacific Ocean. The 10k is an out-and-back course with some hills. Approximately half the course is on road surfaces and the remainder is on gravel roads or sandy trails. Multiple aid stations will be available and HOST Park will provide cold seawater showers (about 5°C / 41°F) along the course and seawater foot plunges after the finish. There is no bag drop. Parking is limited along Kahilihili Street. Strollers and pets are not allowed on the course. Awards include top 3 male and female overall and top 3 in each age-group division. Finishers receive a running hat and a 5k or 10k pin. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
