Hospice of Guernsey Flamingo Run
The Hospice of Guernsey Flamingo Run is an annual memorial event held at Cambridge City Park. This event serves as a fundraiser to support patient care and bereavement services for the local hospice organization. Participants can choose between several timed and untimed events.
The following distances are available:
- 10k Race Run
- 5k Race Run
- 5k Race Walk
- 1 Mile Memorial Walk
The 10k and 5k events begin and end at the 8th Street entrance of Cambridge City Park. The 10k course is a double loop that leads participants down 8th Street Road and through the Northwood Cemetery and Edgeworth areas. The 5k follows a single loop of the same route. The 1 Mile Memorial Walk utilizes a shorter path through the Northwood Cemetery before returning to the park.
A water station is positioned outside the cemetery, and additional water and nutrition are provided at the finish line. Early registrants are guaranteed a custom t-shirt with the official race logo. The event features various awards, including the Golden Flamingo Trophies, which are presented to the school, business, and family groups with the highest number of participants.
