Event Overview
The Hopton 10K returns for its seventh edition in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. This multi-terrain race takes place on a route consisting of 60% tracks and 40% roads. The course leads participants through scenic woodlands, quiet tracks, and bridleways around the village of Hopton.
Course Details
The race covers a single 10 km lap with an undulating profile that includes steady climbs. Due to the nature of the mixed terrain and rural paths, the course is not suitable for wheelchairs. Participants must be at least 15 years old to enter. The event has a registration limit of 500 runners.
Facilities and Amenities
Race headquarters are located at Hopton Primary School, where several facilities are available for participants:
- Toilets and changing rooms located inside the school building.
- Baggage storage area.
- Water stations and distance markers located along the route.
- Free parking for approximately 70 cars, with additional on-street parking nearby.
The event utilizes chip timing to record participant results. Those who complete the course receive a finisher's T-shirt. On-site refreshments include a café serving tea, coffee, and food such as bacon butties. All proceeds from the race are used to support Hopton Primary School.
Registration
Registration and race number collection take place in the main school hall. Entry fees differ for affiliated and unaffiliated runners, and if the entry limit is not reached, registration may be available on the day of the event for a small additional fee.
