Event Overview
The 15th Annual Sham Rock N Run 5k is a community athletic event held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Oviedo, Florida. The event serves as a fundraiser for HOPE Helps, Inc., an organization dedicated to preventing and reducing homelessness in Central Florida. Participants are encouraged to wear themed costumes for the St. Patrick’s Day occasion, with awards provided for the best dressed individuals and a prize for the largest participating team.
The event offers several ways to participate:
- 5k Run/Walk: The primary in-person race.
- Virtual 5k: An option for distance participation.
- Snooze for HOPE: A registration category for supporters who do not wish to run.
- FREE Lil' Leprechaun Lap: A dash specifically for children under 10 years old.
The first 700 registered participants are provided with a performance t-shirt, a finisher medal, and a custom race bib. Attendees also receive a race bag containing event swag. Organizers request that participants return these bags filled with non-perishable food items to benefit a local food pantry.
For logistics and safety, on-site parking is available at no charge. Children in strollers may participate for free but must begin the race at the back of the starting pack. Due to safety regulations, bicycles, skateboards, skates, and non-service animals are prohibited on the course. Awards are presented to the top three male and female runners across various age categories, ranging from under 9 to over 80 years old.
