Event Overview
The Hope Trail Festival is a multi-day running festival held at Newnham Park near Plymouth. It features three timed endurance races on a 5-mile trail loop: 12-hour, 24-hour, and 36-hour options. Participants can enter as solo runners, in pairs, or in teams of up to 8 people. A children's race is also part of the festival. The event aims to create a friendly, community atmosphere.
Course & Format
The event takes place on a marked 5-mile trail course within the grounds of Newnham Park, a private estate in a wooded valley. The route is reversed each year. The objective for the timed races is to complete as many laps as possible within the chosen time limit (12, 24, or 36 hours). A participant may start their final lap at any time before the official finish time. There is a single checkpoint on the course stocked with water, cola, Tailwind nutrition, and snacks. A transition area at the start/finish provides further refreshments.
Awards & Recognition
All runners completing at least one lap receive a bespoke event medal. Additional awards are given based on performance:
- Solo runners reaching 100 miles receive a special 100-mile buckle.
- Podium trophies are awarded to the top three male, female, and mixed participants in the solo, pairs, and team categories for each race duration.
- Medals are tiered by duration: Bronze for 12-hour finishers, Silver for 24-hour finishers, and Gold for 36-hour finishers.
