Hope in Motion 5K
The Hope in Motion 5K is an 80s themed event organized by the Genesis Foundation and Imaging Department. Located at the Genesis Healthcare Systems Campus in Zanesville, Ohio, this inaugural event raises funds to benefit patients at the Genesis Cancer Care Center. Participants are encouraged to wear neon attire for the morning activities.
The event offers two main participation options:
- 5k Race: A 3.1 mile running course that begins and ends at the Genesis Cancer Care Center.
- 1 Mile Memory Walk: A 1 mile walk held on the Genesis Healthcare Systems Walking Trail.
Participants who register for the 5k Race by May 15, 2026, receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt. For the t-shirt, registrants can choose between a cancer survivor or a cancer supporter design. Registration after this date includes a goodie bag while supplies last but does not include a medal or shirt. Children aged 12 and under may participate in the race for free, though they are not eligible for the commemorative items.
Additional commemorative options include the purchase of memory mile signs to honor loved ones along the course. Race results are provided through on-site kiosks or via automated text and email notifications for those who opt-in. In the event that an in-person gathering is not possible due to weather or other safety reasons, the race will be converted to a virtual format.
