About the race

The Donut Run 5K at Hope College is a campus road race held as part of One Big Weekend. All proceeds support Dance Marathon, which raises funds for Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

The event features a 5K course that tours the Hope campus and returns to Ray and Sue Smith Stadium for a finish on the 50 yard line. Aid stations offer donut holes and water just after the first mile marker, slightly before the second mile marker, and as runners reenter the stadium parking area near the three mile marker. Registration fees include professional chip timing, a long sleeved race shirt, and donuts along the route and at the finish.

Additional offerings include a Donut Hole 0.5K kids fun run for ages 2–8. That fun run is untimed, each child receives a small medal and a donut, and parents may assist participants. Awards are given to overall male and female winners and overall masters (40+), with age group awards for the top two finishers in each listed age division. Age group awards are based on chip time and must be claimed by the end of the event or by October 31 at the Student Life Office.

Packet pick-up is available at campus locations on the Friday before the race and at the stadium on race day. Registration is limited to 800 participants and shirt availability is not guaranteed for later registrants. No refunds are issued. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
