Event Overview

The Holland Turkey Trot 5K is a 5 km running event held on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2026, in downtown Holland, Michigan. The start and finish line is on 8th Street between Central Avenue and College Avenue.

Course Description

The course starts and ends in downtown Holland. Runners begin on 8th Street, turn onto Central Avenue and then E 7th Street, before heading left onto Lincoln Avenue. A unique feature of the route is that it enters Windmill Island Gardens, where participants run within five feet of the historic De Zwaan Windmill. The course returns via Lincoln Avenue to E 8th Street and finishes where it started.

Registration and Details

A maximum of 1,000 participants is expected. Registration opens on June 30, 2026. The fee is $35 and increases to $40 on August 1, 2026, and to $50 on November 1, 2026. Day-of-race registration and packet pickup are not available. Packet pickup is scheduled for the two days prior at Gazelle Sports in Holland: Tuesday, November 24 from 4–7 PM, and Wednesday, November 25 from 12–4 PM.

Participant Information

The event is professionally timed and includes a custom T-shirt and a finisher medal with registration. Age group awards are presented to the top three finishers in each category in a ceremony downtown after the race. The organization notes that there may be snow on the course as it is November in Michigan, and the path on Windmill Island will not be plowed.

Location and Logistics

The address for the event is 2 E 8th Street, Holland, MI. 7th and 8th Streets will be closed for the race duration. Runners are encouraged to carpool and use designated public parking areas, such as the Holland Civic Center. Public restrooms and porta potties will be available on Central Avenue between 8th and 9th Streets.
