Hoof It on the Hill : Cherry Creek, NY
Hoof It on the Hill is a fundraising trail race for the Chautauqua County Equestrian Trail System (CCETS). The race is held in Boutwell Hill State Forest near 2099 Ruttenbur Road in Cherry Creek, New York, and uses horse trails, the Earl Cardot Eastside Overland Trail, snowmobile trail and some forest roads.
The course passes through pine and hardwood forests, meadows, and crosses creeks and streams. Runners should expect wet and muddy conditions in places, plus some steep hills. Terrain includes single track technical trail, double track or snowmobile trail, and sections of forest road. The 26k and 52k include a short stretch of asphalt road. The 52k distance is the 26k loop run twice.
Aid and crew information varies by distance. The 6k has no aid stations; the 12k has one water stop; the 26k loop has two aid stations plus two water stops. Aid stations provide water, sports drink and typical ultra food such as peanut butter and jelly, candies, pretzels, pickles, cookies, fruit and chips. Crews are allowed at the Ruttenbur Start/Finish aid station for the 52k and at the Boutwell Hill aid station for the 26k and 52k. Drop bags are permitted at Boutwell Hill aid station for 26k and 52k runners. Pacers are not permitted.
