Hoof It on the Hill
Hoof It on the Hill is a trail running event in Boutwell Hill State Forest near Cherry Creek, New York. The event is a fundraiser for the Chautauqua County Equestrian Trail System and is presented in its fifth year. The course uses portions of horse trails, the Earl Cardot Eastside Overland Trail, snowmobile trail and some forest roads.

Runners pass through pine and hardwood forests, meadows, and cross creeks and streams. The route includes some single track technical trail, double track snowmobile trail, and sections of forest road. Expect wet and muddy conditions in places. The 52k is two laps of the 26k loop, and the 26k and 52k include a short asphalt stretch.
Elevation gain is approximately 300 ft for the 6k, 630 ft for the 12k, 1300 ft for the 26k, and 2600 ft for the 52k. Aid and crew logistics vary by distance: the 6k has no aid stations, the 12k has one water stop, and the 26k loop has two aid stations plus two water stops. Aid stations offer water, electrolyte drink and typical ultra food. Crews and drop bags are allowed at designated aid stations for the 26k and 52k. No pacers are permitted.
The event notes a generous cutoff, welcomes hikers on all distances, and is Trail Sisters approved. The organizer maintains a no refund policy with specific pregnancy deferral provisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
