Event Overview
The Honor Our Heroes 5k Memorial Run is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026. It is the 10th annual edition of this event, held in Oldsmar, Florida, in recognition of Memorial Day.
Organizing Nonprofits
The event is organized by Oldsmar Cares, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has served the local community since 1997 by operating a food pantry and clothing closet, and providing other essential assistance. The event is a collaboration with VFW Post 12186. Both organizations are described as all-volunteer forces. All net proceeds from the event support efforts to serve residents, families, veterans, and community projects.
Race Details
The main event is a certified 5k (3.1 miles) race that starts near Oldsmar City Hall. The route passes Veterans Memorial Park and goes along the waters of upper Tampa Bay. The event includes a second option: the HOH5k Harrier Edition, a youth group race. Registration fees are listed as $30 for the main 5k and $20 for the youth edition, with discounts available for military personnel, police, fire, EMTs, and students.
Awards and Amenities
Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as to the top three finishers in each age bracket, starting from ages 9 and under and continuing in five-year increments up to 70 and over. Participants receive a chipped timing bib, an official race shirt (while supplies last), and a swag bag. Access to a post-race party with food and beverages from Tampa Bay Brewing Company is included. Packet pickup is available in the days before the race at the Tampa Bay Brewing Company location on Racetrack Road.
Logistics
Parking is recommended off Tampa Road onto Washington Avenue, in an open grass field with attendants. Late registration booths, vendors, and restrooms are located close to the parking, start/finish area, and city hall. The organizers note that packet pickup on race day can be challenging and that race day registration is limited, with no guarantee of swag bags or shirts.
