The Home for Freedom Marathon

The Home for Freedom Marathon is a multi-distance running event held in Wichita Falls, Texas. The Start and Finish line area is located at the pavilion in Lucy Park, a 178-acre space along the Wichita River. The course takes participants through the center of Wichita Falls, featuring a landscape of mature pecan and cottonwood trees, a swinging bridge over the Big Wichita River, and a man-made waterfall.

The following distances are available:

  • Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
  • 5K Fun Run/Walk (3.1 miles)

All participants are invited to a pre-race spaghetti dinner on the Friday before the race, which takes place during the same hours as packet pickup. Please note that all race packets must be collected on Friday, as there is no packet pickup available on the morning of the event. Participants who cannot attend in person may authorize a representative to collect their packet with a written note.

The event serves as a fundraiser for Home for Freedom, a local non-profit organization that constructs tiny homes for veterans experiencing housing insecurity. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
