Home for Freedom Marathon : Wichita Falls, TX
The Home for Freedom Marathon is a multi-distance running event held in Lucy Park, Wichita Falls, on October 17, 2026, with pre-race activities on October 16. Distances offered include:
- Full Marathon : 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon : 13.1 miles
- 5K : 3.1 miles
The Start/Finish area is located at the Lucy Park pavilion. The course passes through central Wichita Falls and features park scenery including mature pecan and cottonwood trees, a swinging bridge over the Big Wichita River, areas associated with the nature center, and a man-made waterfall that will be under construction from August 2026 through summer 2028.
A pre-race spaghetti dinner and packet pickup are scheduled for Friday, October 16; the precise location for those activities is to be announced. The spaghetti dinner is included with registration; additional tickets are available for purchase at $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. All race packets must be picked up on Friday; there is no race-day packet pickup and packets will not be mailed. A representative may collect a packet with an authorization note.
Organizers note that the course route may change if conditions require it. The event is presented by Home for Freedom, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds tiny homes for veterans experiencing housing insecurity. Awards include top three overall male and female and top three in age groups excluding overall winners. Participant shirt and finisher medal designs are to be announced.
