Holy Island Marathon 2026

Holy Island Marathon 2026 takes place on 9 May 2026 and marks the event's tenth year. The race covers 26.2 Miles from Lower Burnmouth in the Scottish Borders along the coast through Berwick, Goswick and Beal, across beaches, via the Pilgrims causeway and finishes on Lindisfarne including a final section over dunes.

The event uses two start waves organised by estimated finish time. The route to the island must be taken via the Pilgrims causeway; use of the Southern Low Bridge or the road bridge will result in disqualification. Participants must give an accurate estimated finish time so organisers can check compatibility with causeway access. There is a causeway cutoff at 19 miles and an overall race cut off of six hours. Prolonged walking is not permitted and may lead to disqualification for safety reasons.

Minimum age on race day is 18 years. Entries are open from 27 March 2026 until 19 April 2026. Entry fees are £85 affiliated (includes TRA contribution) and £90 unaffiliated. Affiliated athletes include those registered with UKA clubs and listed associations. All finishers receive a race medal and a goodie bag. One minibus return to the start is provided after the race; this service must be requested one month before the event. A joining pack and further race details will be issued late April 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
