Borders Ultra Challenge
The Borders Ultra Challenge takes place 28-29 August 2027 and follows a double marathon format along the east coast into Scotland. The event starts in Berwick-upon-Tweed in England, follows the Berwickshire Coastal Path via Emouth and St Abb’s Head, passes a halfway stop at marathon distance, moves past Dunbar and inland from John Muir Country Park, and finishes in the seaside town of North Berwick.

Support infrastructure includes marquee rest stops every ~12.5 km with major stops about every ~25 km, catering with snacks and meals, and medical, podiatry, and massage teams. The route is fully signed with pink arrows and glow-sticks for night sections and is supported by GPS tracking through an event app. Timing scans log progress at rest stops and a control room monitors entrants. Camping packages are available with an approximate 50 km campsite for two day daylight options or half challenge participants. Additional services listed for the event include shuttle buses and transfers, optional solo start and alternative participation options such as Ultra March and Trailblazerz, and finish line items including a medal, finisher’s T shirt, and a glass of fizz with a finisher certificate available afterwards.
