Holloman Ace of Races
The Holloman Ace of Races is a multi-distance running event held at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, New Mexico. This event is open to the public and serves as a fundraiser for the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation fund, which supports Airmen and their families. Participants run on paved roads through a landscape situated between the Sacramento Mountains and the White Sands National Park gypsum dunes.
The event offers several race distances:
- Marathon: A 26.2-mile course with chip timing.
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile course with chip timing.
- 5K: A 3.1-mile course with chip timing.
- Kids Dash: A 1-mile race consisting of four laps on an outdoor track.
The racecourse is flat, with a total elevation gain between 52 and 65 feet. The route passes through areas of Air Force history and features a selection of static aircraft and equipment on display near the end of the course. The final half-mile of the races follows a military-style layout with specific turns leading to the finish line.
Participants in the marathon and half marathon receive a bib, a Nalgene bottle while supplies last, a t-shirt, a sticker, and a finisher medal. 5K participants receive a bib, t-shirt, sticker, and finisher medal. The Kids Dash is limited to 40 participants and includes a bib, t-shirt, goodie bag, and medal. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in the marathon, half marathon, and 5K based on chip timing. To receive a finisher medal, participants must complete the course within the designated time limits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
