HogmanHoway 5K in Newcastle City Centre

The HogmanHoway 5K is a New Year’s Eve road race that starts and finishes at the Civic Centre in Newcastle City Centre. The event uses a closed-road, flat and fast course that passes through city streets and festive lights, creating a night-time running experience.

The event hub at the Civic Centre provides baggage storage, toilets and refreshments. The event features chip-timed results and a city centre route. Every runner receives a specially designed HogmanHoway 5K medal, a festive New Year’s Eve goody bag and a limited-edition event buff.

The event is open to runners aged 11 and over. The schedule notes the Quayside fireworks at 6pm earlier in the evening for those attending other city celebrations. Transport access is described as straightforward: Haymarket Metro Station is a short walk from the Civic Centre, with Monument and St James stations also within reach. Car parking is available nearby, including Civic Centre, Eldon Square and Claremont Road car parks.
