Event overview
The HogmanHoway 5K is an evening 5-kilometre city centre race in Newcastle, held on 31 December 2025. The event starts and finishes at the Civic Centre and uses a closed-road, flat course that runs through city streets and festive lights. The event features an elite race (three laps, prizes for the top three men and women) and a larger mass race open to participants aged 11 and over. The course uses public roads that will be closed for the duration of the run and will have course signage and marshals at key junctions.
Entries and logistics
Standard entry for the 5K is shown as £22 with a £2 discount for UKA club members. Entries close at midnight on 29 December or when the event sells out; there are no entries accepted on the day. Race packs (race number and timing chip attached) are posted to UK residents in the weeks before the event; overseas entrants collect packs from Race Information at the event. The entry includes a specially designed medal, a finisher’s goody bag, a limited-edition buff, chip-timed results, baggage storage, toilets and refreshments. Travel options listed include nearby Metro stations (Haymarket, Monument and St James) and several city centre car parks. Road closures will be in place across the city centre during the event.
