Hobble Creek Half Marathon
The Hobble Creek Half Marathon is a USATF certified and sanctioned 13.1-mile road race held in Mapleton, Utah on August 22nd. The course begins at Balsam Campground in the Right Fork of Hobble Creek Canyon and finishes on the grass at Mapleton City Park. The route is a gradual downhill with a total elevation drop of 1,253 feet and includes canyon road, the Hobble Creek Bike Path, local streets, and paved trail segments.
Timing is chip-based with a rolling start. The course is not closed to traffic; police will assist with traffic management. Aid stations are located at miles 3, 6.5, 8, and 10 and provide water and porta-potties; electrolyte drink is available at miles 6.5, 8, and 10. No gels are provided on course, though one energy gel or chew is included in the race packet. Drop bags are included in the packet and are retrieved by bib number at the finish; unclaimed items are donated or discarded after one week.
Packet pickup is at Runners Corner in Orem; ID is required and family or friends may collect packets on a runner’s behalf. All participants must use bus transportation to the start; private vehicles are not allowed up the canyon. Post-race offerings for participants include recovery food and drinks, vendor booths with recovery services and apparel, and free race photos posted within 24 hours. Awards include finisher medals for all, age-group prizes and cash payouts for top finishers. Transfers or deferrals to 2026 are permitted if completed by July 31, 2025.
