About the race
Hit The Road, Jack! takes place on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at the Ruby Jack Trail Head in Carthage, Missouri. The event uses the Ruby Jack Trail; the published meeting address is 2113 West Old 66 Blvd, Carthage, MO 64836. Net proceeds support JRR charities and JTC projects for the Ruby Jack Trail.
The event includes these distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- 25K
- 50K
- Virtual Run
All distances are out-and-back on the flat, shaded Ruby Jack Trail and are USATF certified. Electronic chip timing is used. Turnaround points are at the 2.5K marker for the 5K, the 5K marker for the 10K, and the 12.5K marker for the 25K and 50K; 50K runners complete the 25K course twice and receive certified times for both 25K and 50K. The 50K is the RRCA Missouri State Championship and includes cash prizes. The halfway cut-off for the 50K is four hours; missing that cut-off converts the effort to a 25K finish.
Awards include trophies for top male and female in 5K, 10K, 25K and 50K, 10-year age-group awards, age-graded awards based on a US Masters handicap system, finisher awards and USATF certified times. Other on-site features listed are vendor food and drink, music, gift certificates, free race photos, and participants are invited to bring their own chairs.
