Event overview
The 2026 Hinson Lake 24 Hour Ultra Classic is scheduled for Saturday, September 26 to Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Hinson Lake in Rockingham, North Carolina. This is the 20th annual running of the 24-hour event. Entry is limited to 500 participants; registration opens January 1, 2026 and a wait list is used once the cut-off is reached. Entries are non-transferrable, non-refundable, and there are no deferrals. The event is USATF sanctioned.
Course and race operations
The course is a 1.5032-mile inner loop that circles the lake and is USATF certified (NC14103DF). The surface is a sand and gravel maintained trail through the woods. The route includes over 16 small wooden foot bridges, including a 300-foot bridge that crosses the lake. The trail will be marked on race day and will use chem-lights for night visibility. Electronic timing will be used; each participant receives a bib/chip that must be worn at all times to record laps and splits. There is a runner-only chute and participants taking breaks must avoid the lap counting area. Pacers must be registered entrants.
Logistics, parking and awards
Parking along the entrance road is restricted to the east side to allow emergency access. The main lodge lot is limited and first come, first serve; additional parking options include the south parking lot with access from Crow Run and the Moose Lodge on Crow Run. RV camping spaces at the Moose Lodge are offered with donations accepted. The course start location is at the foot bridge of the dam in the main parking lot. Awards include first-place overall male and female in the 24-hour and 100/K categories, additional awards for MTC members, and a 100/K medal for all participants surpassing 100/K.
