The 6th Annual Mangum Marathon & 1/2 Marathon takes place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, near Ellerbe, North Carolina. Events offered:
- Marathon
- Half-Marathon
Registration closes January 9, 2026. There is a seven-hour time limit for the marathon and a five-hour time limit for the half-marathon. Both events are chip timed. All finishers receive a finisher medal. Awards include overall Male and Female, plus top three Male and Female in age groups 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Participants receive a long sleeve 1/4 zip technical shirt; shirts and medals are not guaranteed on race day for registrations after January 6 but will be available after the race (one week processing time). Overall winners receive custom engraved tumblers.
Course and logistics
The start and finish are at the Dog Pen, located near the intersection of Carthage Creek Road and Holly Grove Church Road; the closest address is 869 Holly Grove Church Rd., Ellerbe, NC 28338. The marathon course route begins at the Dog Pen, runs 2 miles then turns right for an 11.1-mile out-and-back before returning to the finish. The course includes a notable climb near Bethel Church at about the 22-mile mark. The half-marathon turns around at the 6.55-mile mark and returns to the Dog Pen. Course support is minimal; there will be bottled water drop spots and two manned water stops at the 6.5-mile mark and the half turnaround. A portable restroom will be provided.
