Event overview

The Cheraw 24 Hour Run is a Mountaineer Rumble event held at Cheraw State Park in Cheraw, SC. The event uses a single loop, the Turkey Oak Trail-Outer Loop, that is 4.3 miles long with about 190 feet of elevation gain. The race has a 24-hour time limit; runners may complete as many loops as they choose within that period. A limited number of campsites are available during registration. The event aims to highlight the park trail system and support improvements to the park.

Course, aid, and awards

The trail surface is described as smooth, flat, and fast. The route passes through pine, turkey oak, blackjack oak, and hickory trees. Wildlife sightings may include red-cockaded woodpeckers, deer, and various other bird species. An aid station and a drop bag area are located at the finish of each loop, giving access to race aid and personal gear without leaving the course. Typical ultra-race foods will be provided at the start/finish aid station; offerings during the event include burgers, pizza, hot dogs, pasta, bacon, and pancakes. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers. Runners who complete 100 or more miles receive a custom 100-mile buckle.
