End Alzheimer's 5K
The Purple Crusaders host the 6th Annual Longest Day Walk fundraiser and the End Alzheimer’s 5K Pee Dee Grand Prix on May 15, 2027 at Arrowhead Park in Cheraw, South Carolina. The Purple Crusaders are a nonprofit 501c3 organization serving the Cheraw and Chesterfield area; their mission is to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.
Registration for 5K participants opens September 24, 2026. The walk portion is free and donations to the Purple Crusaders are accepted, with proceeds supporting local initiatives to ENDALZ. Fee tiers listed by the organizer are thirty dollars through April 25, thirty five dollars from April 26 through May 14, and forty dollars on race day. Shirts are available to participants who register by April 25, 2027, with adult sizes S, M, L, XL, XXL and youth sizes S, M, L.
Awards for the 5K use gun time and include overall top three male and female finishers plus top three in each age group. Age groups are 9 and under, 10 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over. A course map is noted as coming soon.
Packet pickup is at Arrowhead Park, 989 State Park Rd., under the covered picnic table area on 5/14 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and on 5/15 from 7:00 am to 7:45 am. Strollers are welcome, runners may listen to music, and pets are not allowed. Volunteers are requested to support the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
