Hilly Chantilly 5K
The Hilly Chantilly is a chip timed 5K road race through the Chantilly neighborhood of Charlotte. The course begins and ends in Chantilly Park at 222 Wyanoke Avenue and runs on tree lined residential streets in a neighborhood located between Plaza Midwood and Elizabeth.
The route has gentle rolling hills with a total elevation gain of approximately 115 ft. Runners start in Chantilly Park and proceed up Wyanoke Avenue, then follow Bascom Street and Laburnum Avenue before turning onto Saint Julien Street and Bay Street for a downhill section. The course continues onto Hanover and Chesterfield Avenue, which contains the longest uphill segment, then Plaza and Shenandoah Avenue for the longest downhill. The route includes Lorna and the Lorna Loop, reaches Kingsbury Drive, and returns via Bascom Street to Wyanoke Avenue for a downhill finish in the park.
The event benefits the Chantilly Neighborhood Association, which works with residents and neighboring center city communities on preserving natural areas and promoting sustainable urban living.
