The event offers two 5K options: a 5K Run/Walk and a 5K Stroller Race.
Location and Date
The event takes place at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park in Highlands, North Carolina. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Event Details
Race day registration and packet pickup begin at the park. Parking is available at several nearby locations: Kelsey Hutchinson Park, Highlands Recreation Park, Highlands Ball-field, and Highlands Post Office. The event is organized by the Rotary Club of Highlands. All proceeds benefit the Gordon Center for Child Development.
Participant Information
Strollers and walkers are welcome. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are permitted at the back of the pack. Participants who register by July 16, 2026, are guaranteed a T-shirt. Adults of legal drinking age who finish receive one free beer, provided by the Ugly Dog Pub.
Awards and Course
The course is USATF certified. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, top Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Masters, and the top three finishers in each five-year age division. A prize of $100 is offered for beating the course record (16:57), and $50 for setting a new age category record.
Post-Race Activities
A concert featuring the ABC Combo follows the race. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, coolers, and chairs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
