Highlands Twilight 5K
The Highlands Twilight 5K takes place on August 15, 2026 at Kelsey Hutchinson Founders Park in Highlands, North Carolina. The event offers a community 5K Run/Walk and a separate stroller only 5K category. The course is USATF certified (NC16004DW).
Registration opens November 18, 2025 and closes July 15, 2026. Standard registration fee is $35 with a day of event fee of $45. Children under 5 may run the 5K for free; children ages 5 to 9 have a $10 entry fee. A race T-shirt is guaranteed for runners registered by July 16, 2026; shirts are available on a first come basis after that date.
Leashed dogs are permitted at the back of the pack. Free parking is available around Kelsey Hutchinson Park, Highlands Recreation Park, Highlands Ballfield, and Highlands Post Office. A post-race concert features the ABC Combo. One beer is provided to finishers of legal drinking age by the Ugly Dog Pub.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female, top Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Masters, and the top three finishers in each five year age division. Prize incentives include $100 for anyone beating the course record of 16:57 and $50 for a new age category record. Proceeds benefit the Gordon Center for Child Development.
