Event overview
Highland View Academy will host the 46th annual Tartan 5K Run/Walk on March 1, 2026 in Hagerstown, Maryland. The event is a 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk that begins and ends in the administration parking lot at Highland View Academy, 10100 Academy Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21740. The course uses pavement and trails on the HVA campus and at Mt. Aetna Retreat Center. The course will not be closed to traffic. Course maps will be posted later.
Included items, awards and purpose
The event package includes a race t-shirt and a custom finisher medal. The event will also offer door prizes, post-race food and refreshments, and family-oriented activities. Awards will be given to the top male and female overall finishers and to top finishers in the following male and female age groups: 12 & under; 13-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80+. Additional awards will go to the top female and male in each HVA class and to the class with the highest number of participants.
All proceeds and donations from the race benefit the Worthy Student Fund and related endowment. The event materials state that over 90% of current Highland View Academy students receive scholarships from that fund. The academy mission statement notes a focus on inspiring and mentoring students.
