Highball to Thurmond Ultra

Highball to Thurmond Ultra & Relay is a point-to-point trail event in New River Gorge National Park, West Virginia. Options include a 50 Mile Ultra, a 50K Ultra, and a 50 Mile Relay (teams of 2–4) finishing in the historic ghost town of Thurmond. The course blends about 12 miles of paved road with rugged mountain dirt roads and singletrack, featuring roughly 5,000 feet of elevation gain on the 50 Mile.

The 50K starts at Hawks Nest State Park and ends in Thurmond. After finishing, athletes can ride Amtrak back to Montgomery for a champagne toast. The race is celebrated for epic scenery, well-marked trails, and a tight-knit trail-running community.
